Sardar Patel Mahasabha is based on Humanity and Human rights to work for the improvisation of the weaker section and has been creating health awareness all over Uttarakhand and India. The main foresight of the mahasabha is to concentrate upon the health awareness and education programme and implementation.
The mahasabha catalyzes a national movement for universalisation of elementary education in uttarakhand. It has achieved significant improvement in the quality of education as a sustained method for attracting and retaining children in the school.
In loving memory of Sardar Patel, the mahasabha is organizing annually International Prestigious Sardar Ratna and Sardar Patel Awards, awarded to those distinguished persons, who have significantly contributed towards nation building and/or towards technological and scientific advancement in a particular field of eminence, in which they are the well known experts.
If we need to address healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment and human rights, there's no better way to start than providing education to children in need. Education not only empowers children to have a secure future but also helps them grow up as responsible national and global citizens. The Right to Education (RTE) Act which came into force in 2010 made education free and compulsory for all children in the age group of 6-14 years. But even a decade later, the learning curve has not been steady for many children in the country.
Sardar Patel Mahasabha members works with the objective of empowering underprivileged children by providing education, nutrition, and wellness support. The programme is well aligned to the New Education Policy (2020), and the SDG Goal 4 (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all).
Mission Education works with children (3-18 years) living in difficult circumstances, children from poor families, differently abled children, disaster-struck children, abandoned and street children, and children living in tribal belts, remote villages and hard to reach areas.
With a population of 140 Billion, last mile delivery of healthcare in our country has always been a challenge. Nearly 72% of the population lives in rural areas and has access to only about 25% of the healthcare infrastructure. On the other hand, urban slum dwellers are mostly a migrated population for whom livelihood challenges are overwhelming and health lies at the bottom of the pyramid.
Mahasabha members comprehensive and community-centric health programme takes primary healthcare services to the doorsteps of underserved communities in both rural and urban uttarakhand. following a two pronged approach, the programme provides curative as well as preventive services, addressing the gaps in availability, accessibility and affordability of healthcare.
Over the past decade, gender equality has been recognized as crucial not only to the health of nations but also to their social and economic development. The promotion of gender equality and women empowerment is a key aspect of UNDP's Sustainable Development Goals. It involves promoting equal rights, opportunities, and access to resources for women, enabling them to make independent choices and have control over their lives. Empowered women contribute to economic growth, social progress, and sustainable development.
Women empowerment programme Swabhiman, initiated in 2005, reaches out to marginalized and socially-excluded women with interventions in nutrition, healthcare, and livelihood. The programme capacitates women through innovative community practices, empowering them to seek healthcare and bring sustainable changes in the community, while also supporting them to become aware, skilled, and financially independent. Swabhiman also actively works to create a gender equal society, actively engaging men, and boys to participate in the process of women empowerment.
The youth comprises over one-third of the Indian population which in turn constitutes a major part of the labour force of the country. A country like India which has a huge young population can reap better benefits from the demographic dividend if its youth are better skilled and employable. It is crucial for the energy of the underprivileged youth to be channelized properly with proper direction to aid economic growth and nation building.
Our Mahasabha members through its Livelihood programme connects the unemployed or underemployed youth from disadvantaged groups and communities with the sectors which have large growth potential in terms of revenue generation and employability. The staggering youth population underutilised in the job market because of a lack of requisite qualifications and training are upskilled, uplifted, and mainstreamed to become a part of the country's growth story. The livelihood programme aims to complement the government’s vision and efforts under the Skill India mission, and is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 8.
